Counselling is available for those over the age of 18 and is a skilled way of helping individuals with personal issues and difficulties. Counsellors are trained to listen and to help you make the changes you wish for in your life. The counsellor works with you to help you make sense of your difficulties and move forward in your life.
To benefit from counselling you need to be ready and able to commit to attending regular weekly sessions and engage in the process with your counsellor.
Your counsellor will not judge you or tell you what to do. She or he is there to help and encourage you. At Cardiff Mind we offer counselling to men and women aged 18 and over and resident in Cardiff. Our counsellors are all volunteers. Some are already qualified and others are in the final stages of training which requires them to gain practical experience.
There are relatively few free counselling services in the Cardiff area and the demand for counselling is high which mean we always have a waiting list. If you are interested in having counselling at Cardiff Mind please telephone 029 2040 2040 for further information and to arrange an introductory appointment.
Fee-Paying Counselling Service
In addition to our free service we now also have a fee-paying service. In the past clients frequently asked if we could recommend counsellors in the community rather than wait for our free service. In order to meet this demand we decided to open our own fee-paying service within the professional environment of Cardiff Mind.
All our counsellors for this service are fully qualified and the fee is £40 per session. The average waiting time for this service is approx. two weeks and the amount of sessions you book is entirely your choice.
This service is accessed in the same way as our free counselling service, by making an introductory appointment with a member of the planning team at Cardiff Mind. For further information please contact us on Cardiff ( 029) 20402040.
We are also able to offer and Employers Assistance Programme (EAP) for companies who wish to support their employees with external professional counselling. A pre arranged number of counselling sessions can be arranged for the individual employee or a number of employees, and an invoice sent directly to your finance department, using a numerical system to ensure confidentiality for your employee.
